What we treat

Orthodontic services offered in Santa Clarita

01

Initial consultation and full evaluation

The first appointment is where Dr. Zaghi assesses your oral health, hears what you actually want changed, and answers the questions people are usually too polite to ask. Digital imaging gives a complete picture of your dental structure before anything is recommended.

02

Diagnosis and a plan built around your life

We evaluate jaw alignment, bite function, facial symmetry and overall oral health, not just which teeth look out of line. That holistic view identifies the underlying causes, which is what stops a case relapsing a year after the braces come off. Dr. Zaghi then weighs the clinical picture against your preferences, your budget and how visible you are willing for treatment to be, because the best plan is the one you will actually see through.

03

Active treatment, monitored closely

This is the phase where teeth actually move, whether through traditional braces, clear aligners such as Invisalign, or other appliances. We monitor progress at each visit and adjust as needed, so small problems get corrected rather than compounding over months.

04

Retention, protecting the result

Teeth drift back if nothing holds them, so retention is where the result is either kept or lost. We fit and monitor retainers after active treatment finishes, and we are straight with you about how long they need to be worn.

05

Early intervention from age seven

The first orthodontic evaluation is recommended at age seven, when permanent teeth are coming through and jaw growth can be assessed. Early evaluation usually means monitoring rather than treatment, but it lets us guide growth and create space, instead of correcting the hard way years later.

06

Teen and adult orthodontics

The teenage years are often the best window, with all the permanent teeth through while growth is still happening. For adults it is genuinely never too late, and treatment is planned around your working and social life with discreet options for anyone who would rather it were not obvious at work.

What orthodontic treatment costs

We believe in complete transparency about cost. At the initial consultation you get a detailed breakdown of the expenses attached to your recommended plan, in writing, before you decide anything.

Three things move the number: how complex your case is, which appliances the plan uses, and how long treatment is expected to run. Those are set out individually rather than presented as one figure with no explanation behind it.

Smyle Dental Newhall coordinates with most major dental insurance providers and files the claims for you. For the balance we offer payment plans and work with CareCredit, so treatment can be spread over manageable monthly payments. The orthodontic consultation itself is free for new patients.

Why people stay

Six things we do differently

01

Good with nervous patients

First visits are booked longer on purpose so nothing is rushed, and we stop the moment you raise a hand. Most new patients tell us they have put this off for years.

02

You see the plan before the drill

Images, options and the cost in writing first. The least invasive option that actually solves the problem is the one we recommend.

03

Two offices, one dentist

Santa Clarita and Bakersfield run to the same standard with Dr. Zaghi at both. Book whichever is closer, or move between them.

04

932 Google reviews, 4.9 stars

The average dentist in Bakersfield sits at 4.3 stars across a handful of reviews. This practice holds 4.9 across 932 reviews, 822 in Bakersfield and 110 in Santa Clarita.

05

We file your insurance claims for you

You may be able to use your own dental insurance if you have a policy that allows you to choose your own dentist. If this is the case, we are happy to file your insurance claims for you so that you can be reimbursed by your insurance company.

06

Same-day emergency slots

Both offices hold time open each day for pain, swelling and breakages, because those never arrive on a convenient schedule.

1At what age should my child first see an orthodontist?

Age seven is the usual recommendation. Permanent teeth have started to come through and jaw development can be properly assessed, which means growth can be guided rather than corrected the hard way later. Early evaluation does not always mean early treatment, and often the answer is simply to monitor.

2Am I too old for braces?

No. Plenty of our orthodontic patients are adults, treating problems they were never able to address earlier or correcting teeth that have shifted over the years. Adult treatment is planned with your working and social life in mind, and discreet options are available.

3Braces or clear aligners?

It depends on the movement required. Aligners suit many mild to moderate cases and some complex ones, while fixed braces still handle certain movements more predictably. Dr. Zaghi will tell you which options genuinely work for your case rather than steering you towards one by default.

4How long will treatment take?

It varies with the complexity of the case, and you will get an estimate at the consultation rather than a vague answer. Wearing the appliance as instructed is the single biggest factor in finishing on schedule, particularly with removable aligners.

5Do you take my insurance?

You may be able to use your own dental insurance if you have a policy that allows you to choose your own dentist. If this is the case, we are happy to file your insurance claims for you so that you can be reimbursed by your insurance company.

6I am nervous about the dentist. What do you do differently?

First visits are booked longer on purpose so nothing is rushed, and we stop the moment you raise a hand. Most new patients tell us they have put this off for years.

Still not sure?Ask us before you book. Smyle Dental Newhall will answer.
