Smyle Dental – Dr. David Zaghi / Tooth Extractions

Tooth Extractions in Santa Clarita, CA

Extraction is the last option here, not the first. When a tooth genuinely cannot be saved, Smyle Dental Newhall removes it as gently as the case allows, with sedation available for anyone who needs it, and talks through what replaces it before the tooth comes out rather than afterwards.

What we treat

Tooth extraction services offered in Santa Clarita

01

Wisdom teeth removal

Jaw pain, swelling or difficulty chewing often point to wisdom teeth that have run out of room. Removal is planned from imaging rather than decided on the day, so we know what we are dealing with before we start and can tell you what recovery will realistically involve.

02

Emergency extractions

Some situations will not wait: severe infection, a tooth broken below the gumline, trauma. Both offices hold same-day time for urgent cases, and where the tooth can still be saved we will tell you that rather than taking it out because it is quicker.

03

Surgical extractions for complex cases

A tooth that has fractured at the gumline, or one still under the bone, needs a surgical approach rather than simple forceps. These cases are planned in advance from 3D imaging so the roots and the nerve pathways around them are known before anything begins.

04

Replacing the tooth afterwards

A gap is not a neutral outcome. It causes bone loss underneath and lets neighbouring teeth drift. We discuss replacement at the same appointment where extraction is agreed, so you understand the whole path rather than just the next step.

05

Bone grafting where an implant will follow

If an implant is likely later, placing a graft at the time of extraction preserves the bone in the socket while it heals. It is far easier to keep bone than to rebuild it once it has gone, which is why the decision is worth making before the tooth comes out.

06

Sedation for anxious patients

Extraction is the appointment people dread most. Sedation is available and is a normal request here, not an unusual one. We explain what each option feels like, what you will remember, and how long you will need someone with you afterwards.

What happens after the tooth comes out

Smyle Dental Newhall sends you home with written aftercare instructions, because the first twenty-four hours matter more than most people expect and nobody remembers a verbal briefing given right after a procedure.

The instructions cover the clot in the socket and how to protect it, what you can eat, and which symptoms are a normal part of healing against which ones mean you should call us. Knowing the difference is what stops a small problem becoming a painful one.

We book the review before you leave, and if replacement is planned we set out the timeline for that too, so you know how long the gap will be there and what the next appointment involves.

Why people stay

Six things we do differently

01

Good with nervous patients

First visits are booked longer on purpose so nothing is rushed, and we stop the moment you raise a hand. Most new patients tell us they have put this off for years.

02

You see the plan before the drill

Images, options and the cost in writing first. The least invasive option that actually solves the problem is the one we recommend.

03

Two offices, one dentist

Santa Clarita and Bakersfield run to the same standard with Dr. Zaghi at both. Book whichever is closer, or move between them.

04

932 Google reviews, 4.9 stars

The average dentist in Bakersfield sits at 4.3 stars across a handful of reviews. This practice holds 4.9 across 932 reviews, 822 in Bakersfield and 110 in Santa Clarita.

05

We file your insurance claims for you

You may be able to use your own dental insurance if you have a policy that allows you to choose your own dentist. If this is the case, we are happy to file your insurance claims for you so that you can be reimbursed by your insurance company.

06

Same-day emergency slots

Both offices hold time open each day for pain, swelling and breakages, because those never arrive on a convenient schedule.

I got my wisdom teeth removed here and it went great! Doctor Zaghi did such an amazing job and made me feel really comfortable the whole time he was super nice and friendly . The procedure was quick and way less scary than I expected. Also the staff were super nice, kind , and helpful too. Thank you

1Will the extraction hurt?

The extraction itself is carried out under local anaesthetic, so you should feel pressure but not pain. Sedation is available if the anxiety rather than the pain is the problem. Soreness for a few days afterwards is normal, and we tell you what to expect before you leave.

2Can the tooth be saved instead?

Often, yes, and we would rather save it. Root canal treatment saves many teeth that look beyond help. Extraction is recommended when decay, fracture or infection has genuinely compromised the tooth past repair, and we will show you the imaging that led to that conclusion.

3How long is recovery?

Most people are back to normal activity within a couple of days for a simple extraction, longer for a surgical one or for wisdom teeth. The socket takes several weeks to fill in properly underneath. You will get written instructions covering the whole period.

4Should I replace the tooth?

For most teeth, yes. A gap leads to bone loss in the jaw and lets the surrounding teeth drift out of position, which causes bite problems later. We talk through implants and bridges at the same appointment so the decision is an informed one.

5Do you take my insurance?

You may be able to use your own dental insurance if you have a policy that allows you to choose your own dentist. If this is the case, we are happy to file your insurance claims for you so that you can be reimbursed by your insurance company.

6I am nervous about the dentist. What do you do differently?

First visits are booked longer on purpose so nothing is rushed, and we stop the moment you raise a hand. Most new patients tell us they have put this off for years.

Still not sure?Ask us before you book. Smyle Dental Newhall will answer.
